L'Oreal Pro Matte Infallible Foundation & Primer

If there's one beauty/make-up item that I typically always buy high-end, it's foundation. Over the years I've dabbled with MACBare Minerals and Clinique, all priced around £25. I'd been stuck in the mindset that more expensive = better quality, and it's taken me until I'm almost 21 to realise that isn't always the case. The only foundation from the 'drugstore' that I've really used in the past has been the Revlon Colourstay, which ended up being way too thick, and despite being described as suitable for oily/combination skin, my make-up quite literally melted off throughout the day, so needless to say I was never overly excited for cheaper foundations.

L'Oreal Pro Matte foundation (7.99) caught my eye in Boots recently and with the foundation itself along with the L'oreal Infallible Mattifying Base Primer being on offer for £12 for the pair, I decided to give it a go. Firstly, the value for money with these products is just incredible - literally a quarter of the money I'd typically spend when buying my usual duo - MAC Prep&Prime Skin Base Primer and the MAC Studio Waterweight foundation.

Having used the L'oreal Pro Matte for over a week now, I'm definitely impressed. I bought the shade '12 - Rose Beige', however I'd definitely go a shade lighter next time as this is just a little tanner than I prefer. The product feels considerably thicker in texture in comparison to the lighter weight foundations I'm used to, however this blends on my skin very evenly with the help of my Real Techniques buffing brush. Once set, the finish is definitely matte yet my skin still has a glow. It's definitely not so matte that it dries out the skin. In terms of the longevity, I definitely appreciate the impressive staying power of this foundation as just one touch-up is required throughout a 12 hour day! Overall, it definitely covers up blemishes very well whilst my concealer and powder products sit very well on top of the foundation. I'd definitely recommend if you like quite a matte full coverage foundation!

As for the primer, I do find this to work well in terms of smoothing out the skin prior to applying foundation and also increasing the longevity of the products you apply on top. However, with this primer being completely matte, I do prefer the slight shimmer of my MAC Prep&Prime Skin Base Primer. But overall, definitely a great primer and fantastic when used with the L'Oreal Pro Matte foundation

Let me know in the comments below what your favourite 'drugstore' or low-end foundations are! I definitely want to try some from Maybelline and Rimmel soon!
